Here at The Attic we're introducing you to the designer wedding dresses available in store and the designers behind the label. This week we are proud to introduce our South African designer Elbeth Gillis.
Elbeth studied fashion for three years in The Cape Peninsula University of Technology; with a Diploma, twenty years of experience in the fashion industry behind her and her stunning wedding dress designs she was a natural choice for The Attic Bridalwear Boutique Limerick.
"Timeless design meets sophisticated style; the Elbeth Gillis brand is the hallmark of all that is feminine, as eternal and inspiring as the union of marriage itself."
Celebrating 18 years this year, Elbeth Gillis bridal and evening couture house was set up in 1997.
"As the head of her eponymous brand, Elbeth embodies the same virtues that her brides find in their dresses — style, charm, and uncompromising class."
Each dress in made to measure for the Bride who wears it, handcrafted by Elbeth's team in Cape Town. Back in May we were delighted to have Elbeth visit The Attic for our very successful designer weekend. It turns out that The Attic and Elbeth have matching studios as well as dresses!
Elbeth posted a picture of her studio on instagram: "Vintage sewing machine antique chair green wallpaper our studios are a perfect match"
Here's a sneak peak into The Attic Bridal wear Boutique's studio also.
Elbeth Gillis has launches a range of collections, the first we are taking a look at is her "Spring" collection.
"This collection is inspired by spring and is lively and fresh. It features meticulously crafted petals and blossoms, laid over soft tulles and the finest silk chiffons. Chantilly lace details provide accents, emphasising the shoulders and back. The lace motif continues with delicate cap sleeves and covered buttons, adding a demure elegance. These beautiful gowns are embellished with light airy trims, including fine beadwork in pearls, crystals and diamante.2
The Attic stocks a selection of Elbeth's dresses, from her "Spring" collection we stock the "Melissa": A-line gown in embroidered Spanish tulle with illusion neckline, cascading blossom detailing and silk sash in natural waist.
The second collection we will be looking at is the "Enchanting" collection.
"The Enchanting collection is designed for the bride-to-be who wants something a little different, who wants to stand out from the crowd. Enchanting captivates with elusive lace tattoos, hidden flowers and delicate bead- and ribbon-work. Off-the-shoulder necklines and transparent sleeves play an intoxicating game of hide-and-seek, while hidden pockets bring pure delight."
From Elbeth's "Enchanting" collection we stock the "Haley": Slim-fitting gown in crepe satin and speckle tulle with lavish guipure lace embroidery highlighting the bodice, sleeves and plunging neckline and back.
Also available from the "Enchanting" collection is the "Charie": Subtle a-line gown in crepe satin and silk georgette, with Chantilly lace bodice and shoulders on an illusion neckline, floral embroidered elements on the dropped waist and neckline adds a sense of opulence
Moving onto the "Caroline", another one of Elbeth's amazing designs from her "Enchanting"collection: Dupion silk dress with soft flared skirt that has hidden pockets, metallic guipure lace detailing on the bodice, illusion neckline and sleeves, finished with an understated beaded belt in the waist.
The "Enchanting" collection is a favourite in The Attic and you can see why with the "Lisa": V-neck ball gown in Chinese dupion silk with ruched bodice, spaghetti straps and Chantilly lace trim on neckline, skirt with knife pleats and hidden pockets and contrast silk sash with distressed Chantilly rose trim in natural waist.
Elbeth's designs truly are "Enchanting" with our last dress from this collection the "Olivia": Diaphanous tulle ball gown with soft v-neck, Chantilly lace and delicate tulle ruching on the bodice and hand-beaded Chantilly lace with laser cut petals detailing in the natural waist.
Elbeth is also launching her 2016 collection entitled "Opulence"
"is all about pure sophistication with a refined sense of sensuality. The best silks, chiffons and French laces are used in this luxurious collection that features intricate hand beading and sprinklings of petals and flowers." http://www.weddinginspirasi.com/2015/07/09/elbeth-gillis-2016-wedding-dresses-opulence-bridal-collection/#.VZ4jVfnyDqk.facebook
