Sunday night saw Hollywood's best walk down the red carpet for the 88th Academy Awards, these annual awards promise a night full of glamour, celebrites and stunning dresses and here at The Attic Bridal Wear Boutique, we were not disappointed with the fresh bridal inspiration for 2016.
Cate Blanchett looked to be stepping out of a fairytale wearing a pale blue Armani Prive dress. What I love about this dress is the delicate, romantic nature of the 3D floral embellishments yet she showed off her killer curves with the cinched in waist and deep V neckline. Very in sync for this season's bridal trends, this dress could easily have been walking down the aisle.
Our very own Saoirse Ronan kept it simple on the night with a sparkly, emerald green, Calvin Klein dress. For brides wanting to make an impact but keep their look effortlessly chic this is the way to go. A neat silhouette with deep V matched with beautifully beaded fabric for that simplistic yet eye catching look.
Jennifer Lawrence wore a floor length Dior Couture gown straight from the Spring 2016 catwalk. The sheer lace with deep V neckline was contrasted by a black tiered skirt. This dress would be perfect for a 1920's themed wedding, with the "flapper" inspired skirt.
For brides travelling abroad to get married, some traditional wedding dresses can be very heavy and uncomfortable for hotter climates. Take inspiration from Daisy Ridley who wore a silver, embellished Chanel, mid length gown. Light and easy to move around in, yet keeping the wow factor with the embellishments.
Charlize Theron took the plunge on the night in a red Dior gown. The "Mad Max" star stole the show with this deep plunging neckline and backless gown which showed off her amazing figure. Brides brave enough to take on the trend of the deep plunge, which we are seeing everywhere in 2016, take inspiration from Theron's figure hugging gown and to make your entrance even more dramatic make sure you incorporate that train.
Rooney Mara knows how to work the sexy yet sophisticated angle in this white sheer Givenchy gown. What first appears to be a very conservative look with long sleeves and crew neckline, is actually very revealing with a diamond cutout section around her torso and thigh high slit up the front. Sheer wedding dresses are becoming very popular among brides, just make sure to keep it sophicated. I loved how the "Carol" star channeled her inner Goth Girl with her dark makeup and 3 part bun updo, a contrast to the bridal white lacy dress and her natural skintone.
Lady Gaga was one of my favourites on the night with her white Brandon Maxwell jumpsuit. What I loved about this look is that it stood out from all the dresses and is bang on trend for 2016 bridal wear. This strapless number looked even amazing from the back with the long train. For brides daring the new trends, take a page from Gaga's book by keeping your hair and makeup at a more traditional level, Lady Gaga looked like old Hollywood glamour with the soft curls and minimal makeup.
Olivia Wilde wore a white pleated Valentino number on the night. This dress took the deep plunge to a whole new level and for brides wanting to take on this look, there's only one thing you are going to need and that is a lot of boob tape! If the plunge is a step too far, you could always incoperate this backless number into your dress, the pleating detail on the back is stunning.
Sofia Vergara looked as amazing as ever in a midnight blue, sweetheart neckline Marchesa gown. The "Modern Family" actress stuck to her usual figure hugging style, with cinched in waist and neckline to show off her clevage. One tip for brides taking inspiration from the red carpet is to stick to a style which suits your shape and have fun with it.
Charlotte Riley looked stunning on the night in a black lace Gauri & Nainika gown. Ever since Kate Middleton walked down the aisle in 2011, brides have been loving lace wedding dresses, why not take a modern twist on this look and mix it up with modern trends such as the deep plunging neckline, with the scalloped lace and the Cinderella inspired skirt?
Dorith Mous had another take on the lace dress, but instead of the deep plunging neckline she took on the trend of the Victorian high neck. She kept the look more conservative with the sheer long sleeves and the voluminous tulle skirt. For brides wanting to keep the lace but kick it up a notch, channel your inner goth girl and opt for black lace instead of white.
Priyanka Chopra wore the ultimate bridal gown on Sunday night in a sheer, white embellished Zuhair Murad, strapless gown. For brides wanting to take on the nude trends but wanting to bring in the bridal white this is the dress for you.
Brie Larson had one of the most interesting dresses last night when she stepped out in a royal blue Gucci gown. I loved the movement of the ruffles in this dress with the ultra feminine sheer panels over the deep V and the embellished belt. This dress in a bridal white would be a real winner.
